ProgrammeSync
The conference programme in WordPress: sessions, speakers, rooms and tracks from pretalx, synchronised automatically, in three views. Or without pretalx, as a standalone plugin.
ProgrammeSync is a WordPress plugin we built together with our friends at plain schwarz. It brings all the content types a conference needs, fetches the programme from pretalx and keeps it up to date via cron job. The code is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3. It also works together with our x10 Event App.

The plugin brings the post types and taxonomies that make up a conference programme: sessions, speakers, organisations and partners, organised by rooms, tracks, formats and tags. Even without pretalx, the plugin works as a standalone programme manager.

No duplicate content. The programme is maintained in one place only.
Through the pretalx API the plugin imports the complete programme and keeps it current via cron job: schedule, sessions, speakers, tracks, rooms, answers to custom questions and video links. Anything added by hand in WordPress survives the next run. If a session disappears in pretalx, it goes to the trash rather than into thin air.

List, calendar, timeline. One switch.
Visitors choose how they want to see the programme: as a list for reading, as a calendar with rooms as columns or as a timeline with rooms as rows. Breaks are visible in every view, days can be switched, and everything works the same on a phone.

One programme, many channels.
The plugin exposes the programme data as a public JSON API. Our event app reads programme, speakers and rooms from it. Other services, such as screens at the venue, can access it too. Changes in pretalx are everywhere at once after the next sync.
plain schwarz is an event agency from Berlin specialising in open source and free software communities, organising FOSS Backstage and Berlin Buzzwords among others. ProgrammeSync grew out of this collaboration: one agency that runs conferences, and one that builds the technology for them.
